BASIC PURPOSE: To supervise the distribution to and
maintenance of stock levels of all linen items in a state institution.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises Laundry
Workers in sorting, counting, assembling and distributing linen items to
various areas according to quotas.

Establishes and
adjusts quotas for each type of linen item according to average daily usage
figures.
·
Coordinates with the
Laundry Supervisor and advises priorities for linen items.
·
Maintains an
inventory of all linen items.
·
Establishes and
alters stock levels of various linen items.
·
Determines priorities
for deliveries when laundry productions fall short of daily requirements.
·
Performs physical
inventories in every residential area on a periodic basis as required.

DISTINGUISHING FACTORS:
Skill: Requires skill in applying instructions
to accomplish different job functions OR in operating machines for a variety of
different purposes.
Knowledge: Requires understanding and using
business or trades vocabulary or basic arithmetic to perform standard operating
procedures.
Impact: Requires responsibility for
contributing to immediate, ongoing agency objectives by facilitating the direct
provision of services to the public or other state agencies. Errors at this level result in
inaccurate reports or invalid test results and require significant investment
of time and resources to detect.
Supervision: Requires partial supervision of other
employees doing work which is related or similar to the supervisor, including
assigning job duties, providing training, giving instructions and checking
work.
Working Conditions: Requires performing regular job
functions in an environment which includes exposure to continuous physical
elements or a number of disagreeable working conditions with frequent exposure
to minor injuries or health hazards.
Physical Demands: Requires medium work, including
continuous strenuous activities such as frequent reaching, bending, or lifting
as well as performing work activities which require fine manual dexterity or
coordination in operating machines or equipment.
Communication: Requires obtaining and exchanging
information, referring inquiries to the appropriate source, or responding to
questions from state employees or members of the general public.
Complexity: Requires a combination of job functions
using minimal judgment to perform a variety of job tasks according to clearly
prescribed standard practices and procedures.
Independent Action: Requires making a limited number of
choices in selecting among alternative courses of action under supervisory
guidance and in performing job functions according to a variety of prescribed
policies or procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from high school, G.E.D. or
its equivalent.
Experience: Two years' experience in stock control
or linen distribution work, one year of which preferably shall have been
connected with laundry operations.
License/Certification: None required.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of stock control and
inventory procedures, practices and methods. Ability to determine both priorities and needs based on
laundry capabilities. Ability to
supervise both state employees and patients employed in the laundry. Ability to establish and maintain
effective working relationships with associates and supervisory professional
staff. Must be willing to maintain
appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by
the agency appointing authority.
